With the patriotic season upon us, now is the best time to make a fun, themed treat! Here are some easy recipes to prepare at home.

Stars and Strips Cake

Be patriotic with this American flag themed cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of white cake mix

  • 2-3 cups of sliced strawberries

  • 1 cup of blueberries

  • Whipped cream

Directions

  1. Make white cake according to directions in an 9x13 pan

  2. Layer whipped cream on top of the cake after it has cooled.

  3. Create America flag pattern with blueberries in the left corner as the stars

  4. Add rows of sliced strawberries to create the red strips leaving spaces of whipped cream for the white stripes. 

Easy Fresh Strawberry Pie

Try this easy, no-bake strawberry pie that will be sure to please. 

Ingredients

  • pie crust (store bought or your own recipe)

  • 5-6 cups sliced strawberries

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch 

  • ¾ cup water

  • 1 package strawberry gelatin (3oz)

Directions

  1. Layer 4-5 cups of sliced strawberries in the pie crust

  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and water. Cook over medium heat until thickened and clear, making sure to stir constantly. 

  3. Remove from heat and stir in the strawberry gelatin until dissolved.

  4. Let the gelatin mixture cool for 10-15 minutes

  5. Pour the gelatin glaze over the strawberries in the pie crust, making sure to coat them all.

  6. Refrigerate the pie for at least 2-4 hours until set.

Red, White and Blue(berry) Parfait

Enjoy a patriotic breakfast with this easy recipe that’s for a busy morning on the go. 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

  • 1 cup blueberries

  • ¾ cup yogurt of your choice

  • ½ cup of granola

Directions

In a tall glass or jar layer your strawberries, yogurt, then blueberries alternating until almost full, then top with your favorite granola. 

Use small canning jars to make a few the night before to enjoy the week. They are easy to pop in your bag for an on the go breakfast! 

Red, White and Blue Fruit Pizza

This delicious dessert will surely be a hit with a sweet sugar cookie crust layered with cream cheese frosting and topped with strawberries and blueberries. 

Ingredients

  • 1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated sugar cookie dough or use your favorite recipe

  • 1 16 oz container of cream cheese frosting or use your favorite recipe

  • 1 cup blueberries

  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

Directions

Spread sugar cookie dough on a 14in pizza pan and back according to recipe directions. After the sugar cookie dough has cooled, spread your cream cheese frosting evenly over the sugar cookie dough. Arrange your blueberries and strawberries in a fun patriotic pattern!

Pro Tip

The FDA recommends washing your berries under cool running water to remove pesticides and bacteria and\or mold just before you are going to consume them. If storing, make sure to dry your berries thoroughly. Moisture can cause berries to decay faster. Some experts recommend doing a rinse with white vinegar to help extend longevity. Use ½ cup distilled white vinegar with 1 cup water. Let your berries soak for a few minutes and then rinse
