When Did You Stop Taking Care of You?

You show up for everyone else, but real self care begins when you start showing up for yourself. Here is how simple skincare and small moments can make a lasting impact.

You take care of everyone.

You make the appointments, manage the schedules, solve the problems, and hold everything together. But somewhere in all of that, you have slowly stopped taking care of yourself.

For many moms, self care feels like something extra, something we will get to when there is time. But the truth is, there is rarely a perfect moment where life slows down enough to make it easy. Because of that, it often gets pushed aside.

But real self care is not about waiting. It is about creating small moments that actually support you, right where you are.

In my experience working with women over the past eight years, the most impactful form of self care comes from caring for yourself both internally and externally. The two work together.

As moms, we are constantly giving our energy, patience, and attention. Over time, that can leave us feeling depleted. Often, those internal feelings begin to show externally, especially in our skin.

Stress, lack of sleep, and hormonal changes can lead to sensitivity, dullness, and skin that no longer feels like your own. While skincare is sometimes seen as a luxury, it is actually one of the simplest and most consistent ways to take care of yourself.

Here are 5 simple ways to get you back on track:

1. Keep your routine simple and consistent

A gentle cleanser, a hydrating serum, and a moisturizer can go a long way. Adding a vitamin C antioxidant in the morning and wearing SPF daily helps protect your skin and maintain long term health. Consistency matters more than complexity.

2. Turn your routine into a moment, not a task

Slow it down, even if it is just for a few minutes. Washing your face, applying your products, and taking a breath can become a small reset in your day.

3. Support your skin from the inside, too

Hydration, sleep, and stress all play a role in how your skin looks and feels. Caring for your body internally alongside your skin externally creates the most noticeable results.

4. Give yourself permission to rest and reset

Facials go beyond the surface. They improve your skin while also giving you uninterrupted time to relax. That pause allows your body and mind to slow down, which shows up in how you feel.

5. Remember it does not have to be all or nothing

Self care can be simple. A routine at home, a few quiet minutes, or an occasional facial can all make a meaningful difference.

When you begin to prioritize even small forms of self care, everything starts to shift. Confidence grows. You feel more like yourself again and show up differently in your daily life.

Self care is not about escaping your life. It is about supporting yourself within it. When you care for both your internal and external well being, you create something sustainable, realistic, and truly impactful.

Because at the end of the day, self care is not about doing more. It is about finally giving yourself the same care you so freely give to everyone else.
